Behavioral interviews are predictable. Companies ask variations of the same 30 questions because they want signal on a fixed set of competencies: ownership, conflict, ambiguity, leadership, failure, and impact.

STAR, the way interviewers actually score it

  • Situation (10%) — set context fast. One sentence.

  • Task (10%) — what was your responsibility, not the team's.

  • Action (60%) — this is where signal lives. Use "I" not "we".

  • Result (20%) — quantify. Numbers, time saved, revenue impact.
