What is an ATS resume checker?+
It compares your resume with one job posting: which of the posting's skills and terms you use, which you are missing, and whether the layout reads cleanly into an applicant tracking system (ATS). Recruiters search their ATS by those skills and terms, so this is what decides whether you are found. The score is our estimate, not the employer's.
How does CareerPlatform calculate my ATS score?+
We list what the posting asks for, marked must-have or nice to have, and check each item against your resume: named in the posting's words, described in your own words (we show the line), related work, in progress, or missing. The score out of 100 weighs requirements matched (60%; the posting's required qualifications count double, and your own words or related work earn part of the credit), matches shown in your work history rather than only a skills list (15%), bullets with measurable results (10%) and how cleanly the layout reads (15%). Should I tailor my resume for every job?+
Yes. Use the posting's words for work you have actually done - its tool names, its name for the skill - but don't retitle past jobs or add skills you don't have.
